ASA - The modern ABS
Especially in the automotive industry, ABS has proven to be a very good material. This thermoplastic has an optimal ratio of ductility and strength. However, in recent years, ASA has often been used instead in additive manufacturing. This slightly more expensive material is at least on par with ABS in all respects. Mechanical strength, ductility, chemical resistance, and heat resistance are nearly identical. The big difference lies in the UV resistance, which only ASA has, thus giving it a clear advantage over ABS.
Full commitment to the best quality
For the attachment of the trim covers, we use so-called "Threaded Inserts" - in German: Gewinde-Einschmelz-Einsätze. This has a clear advantage over directly screwing into the plastic: The material stress is better distributed, resulting in less creep in the material. Additionally, the threaded inserts allow for optimal positioning of the pressure screws (see right), with which the trim covers are attached to the bar. Simply slide the trim cover halves together on the bar until a *click* is heard, and then tighten the screw by hand.
No damage to the bar
For the fixation of the roll bar covers on the roll cage of SPS-Motorsport, we use high-quality pressure screws. These are set screws with an internal hexagon on one side and a plastic tip on the other side. This tip ensures that the roll bar cover stays in place while the powder coating of the bar is not damaged. In an involuntary test, the quality of this fastening method has already been verified. Conclusion: After an accident with a rollover, the roll bar covers are still as good as new! Don't worry, the driver is fine - thanks to the bar!
